The catcher sub-system removes the jet’s sample liquid after passage through vacuum through a tiny orifice from the vacuum environment. The sample liquid is either stored in the liquid phase or continuously returned to the sample reservoir. The latter allows recirculating total sample volumes below 10 ml.
